I apologize. I have been so busy writing the new book and some other pieces that I just don’t have time to do anything here, but annoyingly self promote.   That is why I’m writing a quick post to say ‘my blog stinks these days.’

Apparently, I can barely utter a thought without saying “you know?” at least once, sometimes more. And, you know, the more aware of it I become, the worse it gets. I’m thinking of wearing a little shock collar and whenever I say “you know” letting Violet zap me. But then again I might want to get someone who doesn’t call A, E, I, O, and U ‘bowels’.

Today I kept Violet home from school. She had a bad cold and she really wanted to watch Movietime Monday on Playhouse Disney. Around 6 o’clock the phone rings. “Hello?” I say in my British accent.

This is yaw choilds school cawlling. Yaw choild LEO VIOLET was mawked absent today, please remembah to send yaw choild to school tomorrow wid an absence note. And remembah, awlso, dat a missed day of school is a missed oppatoonity fah learning. G’boy.

It’s nice to think that these are the people my dawta is learning to tawk from. Awlso, she needs an absence note? She’s four years old, do they think she cut school widout me knowing?

The good part is — you guessed it — I get to write an excuse note which can be a plug for my book at the same time!
